Why Use A Testosterone Levels Test? Testosterone levels can vary between individuals and naturally change with age. Some people choose to check their testosterone following changes in energy, sex drive, mood, concentration, muscle strength or exercise recovery. However, these changes can have many different causes, so the result should be treated as a screening result rather than a diagnosis.
How Does The Test Work? The kit uses a small finger-prick blood sample. Once the sample and supplied diluent have been added to the test device, allow the test to develop for 10 minutes. The resulting test line is compared with the supplied colour card to determine whether the result falls within the low, average or high band.
For the most consistent result, U-Test recommends taking the test in the morning, when testosterone levels are typically highest.
Understanding Your Result:
Low: The result falls below the test’s average band. Consider discussing the result with your GP, who can arrange laboratory testing if appropriate.
Average: The result falls within the test’s middle reference band.
High: The result falls above the average band. If this is unexpected, discuss the result with your GP.
This test does not provide a numerical testosterone measurement. An exact testosterone level requires an appropriate laboratory blood test.
